Sedona Weddings

Larry James performs romantic wedding ceremonies in Sedona!

Located in Arizona's high desert under the towering southwestern rim of the vast Colorado Plateau, the city of Sedona is blessed with four mild seasons marked by abundant sunshine and clean air.

Sedona's Red Rocks reach up from the canyon floor to the brilliant sky. Below, the sparkling waters of Oak Creek promise effortless romance.

Never let the temperatures in the Greater Phoenix area melt your enthusiasm for a outdoor wedding. When the temperatures are 100+ in the Greater Phoenix area during June, July and August, you can escape to a temperate wedding paradise just two hours north of Phoenix.

For a romantic, intimate wedding. . . Sedona is a good choice!
Sedona, the heart of "Red Rock Country" in Northern Arizona, was founded in 1902. It is an exciting and vibrant community with easy access to many unique historic sites and the magnificent Grand Canyon. The Greater Sedona area includes West Sedona, Uptown, the Village of Oak Creek, the Red Rock Loop area and Oak Creek Canyon.

This 19-square-mile city is split between Coconino and Yavapai counties, and only 51 percent of its area is privately owned - the rest is part of the Coconino National Forest. The city was named for Sedona Schnebly, wife of first postmaster and founder of the city.

Sedona is a year-round wedding location. Sedona has magnificent settings that lead to spectacular weddings. The magic of Sedona is aura. Many couples choose Sedona for their wedding because of the breathtaking beauty and the romance of the area. Sedona has four distinct seasons, however, neither the heat of Summer or the cold of Winter is too intense to enjoy a romantic wedding outdoors in view of the beautiful "panoramic red rocks" of Sedona.

Sedona's Bell Rock Sedona has beautiful, luxurious resorts, inns, Bed and Breakfasts, and caterers who can provide world-class cuisine, appointments and services. Small, intimate weddings can be scheduled beside the awesome red rock and creek landscapes.

It's a small town (population: 11,200, Source: 2005 US Census) and there may be some services which are not up to the standard you might expect in a larger city. There are only so many possible locations for your wedding, and the choice venues and dates get booked up quickly, especially in the busy seasons. Your wedding planner or venue coordinator will know who offers the quality services you will want on and around your wedding day.

Sedona has strict noise ordinances so there are only a few locations in which your reception guest can continue to party loud, late and long into the night. There are some locations which can accommodate a band or a DJ a little later.

More adventuresome couples may choose to transport their guests to a remote location via jeep and then return to one of area's gorgeous resort sites for their reception.

Weatherwise, Spring and Fall are the most beautiful times of year in Sedona, and they are also the most popular and that means for all tourism, including destination weddings. For mid-sized or larger weddings in April, May or October, you will need to book well in advance.

They also have some beautiful days in the Winter (See average temperatures below). The Summer can be quite pleasant, too. The altitude is about 4,500 feet, so temperatures are quite a bit cooler than in the Phoenix area, about 120 miles to the South.

Sedona is a year-round wedding destination, with more than 300 days of sunshine in an average year, so your chances of getting a beautiful day are pretty good. The rainy seasons are in the Winter, when Pacific storms periodically roll in from the West, and late July through August, usually in the mid-afternoon. If you are concerned about rain, it might be wise to line up a backup indoor location just in case.

It might be wise to fully utilize the services of the wedding coordinator at your venue or hire a wedding planner to assist you with finding the perfect venue and other important details.
